The first day's drive took us from Clemson, SC to LaFayette, LA through Alabama and Mississippi. We stopped for lunch at a rest stop in Alabama and stopped for dinner in New Orleans. Here's some pictures and thoughts from our trip
| It Begins |
| "This vehicle was bought with seized drug money" |
| We thought we'd stop here briefly to get a National Park pass. Too bad they're closed on tuesdays...oh well, we'll try a different place |
| The Mississippi Welcome Center had these really cool tree sculptures (sculpted in place) |
| Driving through the bayous, the road is split by a large body of water , those are neat bridges ahead. |
| Lake Pontchartrain. This was a huge lake before New Orleans, so big it looks like the sea. Straight ahead you can see New Orleans, but on the sies all you can see at the horizon is more water. |
| Some New Orleans Architecture (from the car) |
| Dinner at the Acme oyster house |
| we met some locals |
| and got Beginets from Cafe Du Monde. |
| The Capitol of Louisiana in Baton Rouge |
And we settled in LaFayette for the night after 13hrs on the road.
Yay, awesome pictures, you guys must be on I-10, my road! I have driven that stretch many-a-time :)! So glad y'all got to sample some cajun cuisine. That drive sure is boring, so I'm sorry, it won't get interesting until you get about 100 miles West of Houston towards San Antonio. West TX can be really pretty. Look forward to hearing some comments such as 'Wait this is Houston? Where's Downtown?' to 'Are never going to get out of Houston?'. Y'all going to stop and say Hi to the newest Stabler?? Drive Safe!
